Wrong size lens: adapter?

Hi,
I have bought a lens with a thread size of 52, and my cameras thread size 58.. Is there an adapter I can buy? I've looked on eBay but they seem to be adapters for filters? Rather than lenses. I need one really soon as I am going on holiday on April the 1st!! Thanks :)

for mounting they don't have a thread size.

for filters there are different sizes because lenses come in different diameters depending on focal length and aperture.

So if you have a 52mm UV filter on one lens you will need a 58 mm filter to achieve the same on this. Yes there are step up adaptors but they may intrude into the shot.

Alternatively buy square filters which slot into an adaptor and you only need the fitting rings in the appropriate sizes for the lenses you own
 
Yes it could be the contact thing, no this isn't an April fools lol. I really want this lens to work, it took a couple of pictures when I first tried it but now says that it doesnt work. SOmething about the connection between the lens and the camera
