Ladies and gentleman....

My 14 month journey has led me to this day and I am extremely proud to launch my new site and new brand "Live Through Images"

The site is http://www.livethroughimages.com

I just thought id share it with you all :D

Now i'm going to have a nice beverage.

Have a great evening :)

P.S Please don't mention the music because I know 75% of you will hate it :D

i would be very proud of that site mate if i was you!

Excellent site, excellent images and the music is great (Teardrops is one of my favourite tracks).

The only thing I would say is, I don't think the font style for the 'livethroughimages' banner matches the rest of the site - the rest of the site is very slick and professional, whereas that bit has a 'grafitti' feel to it, which to me, doesn't quite gel.

As said though, you should be proud of the site - excellent work..

Initial thoughts:

Banner is horrid and the Facebook image on the main page is rather off putting, i'd rather just see a photo there with facebook underneath, hell, make it a photo of a face on a book :)

Iamges are very good, but seems to take a little too long to load for me.

Also, why is it written FACEBOOK on your main page and not lower case like the other links?

All understandable points. Facebook is prominent everywhere because my fan page makes me alot of money and I want as many fans as possible :)

Hi Luke,

Is good - I like it except for one or two little niggles.

1. As already mentioned make facebook far less prominent on your site. - ETA just read your reply above, if it makes you money leave it

2. It freezes my FF 3.0.14 install as it loads and loading takes a couple of minutes

Cheers

Hugh

Hi luke, can't look at site just now as I'm on my iPhone but how do you make money through facebook fans- sorry if that's a dumb question?! Will check the site out later!

Hiya,

They like my work, the book me, or they recommend me and book me. Love it :)

Overall its a nice site with some lovely images, but like others - a few points.....

1.The images do seem to take a while to load (compared to other sites).
2. The banner really is :gag: IMO - but its your site so have whatever banner you want. :)
3. Being someone who always has music on in the office I find it somewhat annoying when webpages come up with their own music playing. Its like having 2 people shouting at me at the same time. Even with the facility to turn it off on the site (as you have) I would just move strait on to then next site instead. I'd let the images speak for themselves personally, but again its just IMO.
4. I don't have a problem with the Facebook clicky. Its the way that networking is going in the 21st C so why not.
:)

looks good to me Luke, think you have done well. Just listening to sinead's streets of london, fantastic. Now I can't normally remember who did what but I can remember ralph mctell, the origonal artist who was fantastic but he might have just been pushed into second place.

Have you used themes for your sites? If so who did you use

I'm a massive fan of your work, really do like your style and the way you process your shots. The street stuff for me excellent, and the site looks great too.

BIG thumbs up all round

Its a good site, just curious - why "live through images" and not "life through images" ?

I have to agree, and find the 'tagline' a little odd. Is it 'live' as in 'I live here' or 'live' as in 'live at the Apollo'? It doesn't flow off my tongue.

Personally I find the music fine too... because I now have my sound turned off thanks to all these people who think putting music automatically on a site is cool. ;)

I love music on a site and if a site hasn't music I switch it off :):)

Just gone through the entire site Luke. My 3 yr old daughter sat on my knee and looked at it too. She has decided we are moving into the abandoned property and knows which rooms are going to be which. The one with the big glass room is of course going to be her toy room :D:D:D

I have to say I LOVE the music, especially on a wedding site, it just adds to the emotion, I know everyones different though and thats just the way of the world :)

Its live as in live here because I literally do live what I do.

Brilliant!!!! :D

Just looked at it on my PC and overall I think the site's really good.

Yes the pics take a while to load even on my 20meg connection but overall they're worth the wait.

Yes it has music - I don't get why this puts so many people off - there is a stop button?! anyway......

I like your style overall and processing but one thing for me is that it's slightly bereft of colour - off course this is a personal thing.

Overall superb mate.

You're getting the giggs and to be honest that demonstrates a helluva lot!

Well done.

I love your photographic style.. some great images.

However I would have though a photographer would have been a little more astute when it comes to copyright. By using that music you have in fact breached the copyright of those artists.

This is no different than one of them using one of your images on an album cover without your permission.

I do understand what your saying but I make sure I pay for all the songs I use, like they would if they used my photos. It's always going to be an snnoying situation but the fact is there are millions of sites out there that have music, the company I use, 80% of them have music.

Be really interested to know how you managed to licence that music. Small typo on opening page. You need to proof check the 'about' page too. Several grammatical errors. These things should have been checked before going live! Good showcase of work though.

That's just it, he didn't. Sounds to me like he paid for the download and thinks that that gives him the right to use it on his website.

That's no different than me paying for a canvas off you them scanning the image to use in my own magazine (which may or may not have a circulation of 1 million copies a month).

Like I said I would have thought that photographers more than most would understand the importance of protecting copyright.

Honestly? Terrible brand. Pretty sure Massive Attack's label will be onto that shortly , unless you've licensed their music? Fan page? Pretty pretentious. If you were a pop star you might get away with having that on your website. Not long after seeing the 'Word Art' style branding and the Face Book Fan page link I left. You've got a seperate wedding site with a seperate URL... and yet another Facebook Fan logo on the home page. Are you trying to sell yourself or Facebook?

Also, what is that nasty free counter in the bottom? You're using a counter? What's wrong with Google? You're trying to show you're competent in using social networks yet you can't even get a Google Analytics account going on your website?

I didn't notice the counter at the bottom, I shall get rid of that straight away :)

That's the least of your problems mate. lol.

KayJay I really don't know why you come into my threads because all you do in every single one is have a pop at me, I really don't know what I have done to you.

By the way your talking it sounds like you have already reported me because I do not see how someone from Massive Attack is going to stumble across my website anytime soon, however I do understand now about the copyright and I will be trying my best to contact these people. One thing though Bludomain are one company, go to their site and look how many they have launched this month http://bludomain.com/clients.cfmid say about half have music so about 250 a month (I am guessing) and bludomain are only one company, so you can see why I really didn't think it would be a big deal.

Well done for getting your site together, an achievement in itself and as I haven't managed to get one together myself, I'm not going to be critical of yours.
I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed looking through your images, particularly the derelict hospital and the fashion shots.
I would be interested in what HDR software you use?
Apologies if you've already given this info out - I haven't been about for a while and haven't got time to trawl through old threads.

Hi Jeanie I use photomatix but done of the fashion shots are HDR and alot of the abandoned ones aren't HDR either just so you know.

I don't think I've ever posted in any of your threads. None that I can remember anyways. I tend to avoid any posts where people talk about themselves in the third person.

Also, you need to learn to take criticism. Every time I see someone give you any form of negative feedback you tend to go in some sort of strop or get all defensive... and that makes me want to wind you up even more... so I did in this thread.

I've not reported you, why would I? When I said that was the least of your worries I was talking about your branding... which is truly awful.

Ok KayJay I can't be bothered to argue with you, enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Luke, just had to say love your photos. Excellent work in my opinion. I am very keen on street photography and love the "homeless" project. May I ask how easy it was for you to take their portraits?

Wedding section is also amazing, cant believe you have only been doing this for 14 months

I also agree with using facebook as much as you can, it can get your business out there quicker than word of mouth.

Only thing to add would be the title of the "live through images". It doesnt seem to fit your photography.

But apart from that, very well done. :)
