This might be a question born out of paranoia...

I've just bought the Fuji 50-140mm lens, which is a pretty weighty lens by Fuji standards. Can I assume there shouldn't be any issues carrying the camera with the strap attached to camera rather than switching over to attaching the strap to the lens?

Not worried about the weight - just got a BlackRapid Metro which is very comfortable with a 5D3 and 70-200 f/2.8 - just that the lens mount is strong enough.

I always carried mine via the lens and never had an issue. Just becareful of it rubbing on any clothing such as jeans (the little press studs) as it soon wears the paint off.
Thanks David - the reason I ask is that I'd rather not have to switch between having the strap attached to the lens and to the camera.

Fuji have just responded very promptly to an email to say it should be fine as long as the strap on the camera is secure and the lens is properly attached - so I guess that's the definitive answer!

How i worked it at motorsports events was to have the strap fitted to the lens then when i needed to swap lens to say the 23 for a wider shot was to just unscrew the body and shoot hand held. That left the lens perfectly balanced on my strap and quite secure.

Print the email and put it in the box for future reference. ;)

You could also buy a second FastenR i believe if you felt the need to add some more security and simply unscrew it when you needed to swap lenses?!

Just a thought.

A second FastenR would be a sensible option - should have thought of that sooner.

Off to France first thing tomorrow so won't manage to get one before then.
