Not sure if this is the right place but I need some advice about my recently acquired x100.

Camera is new, just set the language and date, with a newly charged battery, memory card inserted, etc.

Can't get it to shift between OVF and EVF. OVF seems to work fine but nothing happens when I press the switch on the front to move to the EVF.

Camera is not in macro mode( where I think the EVF doesn't work).

What am I doing wrong?

Advice from X100 owners gratefully received.

Hmmm could be one of the display options meaning the evf is switched off. Haven't got my camera to hand but will take a look later.

Graham, I'll check that. My immediate assumption is always that it is something I am doing and not that the thing is faulty. I'll run through the menu's again. Thanks for the suggestion.

Just checked. It's the view mode button I was thinking of. Mine is set to eye sensor but there are various options. Worth a check.

Will give that a try, thanks.

You probably have the view mode as rear lcd only. Do you see any framing lines when looking through the viewfinder? if not, try cycling through the view modes with the "view mode" button on the bottom left of the back.

Phil

I have tried it on all modes, including Eye Sensor and OVF. I can see the frame lines and shooting data in the OVF. It's just that nothing happens when I flick the OVF/EVF toggles switch on the front, I have tried pretty well every mode on the camera and in none of them does the EVF work.

I am now at the point where I think the camera might be faulty. Back to the shop tomorrow probably.

Are you on latest firmware?

If you are maybe a re-set?

Hi Phil

I have the latest firmware.

A return trip to the shop this morning identified that the camera was faulty. The toggle switch to move fro OVF to EVF does nothing.

Did a factory reset on mine and on the display one in the shop so they were both in the same state.

The set it to eye sensor on both and the shop one toggled between the two modes mine did nothing.

Am home now with a replacement that works!

I had assumed it was me but in this occasion it was a faulty unit.

Out to shoot now?

Thanks for the helpful suggestions though they were appreciated.

All well in the end then. Enjoy the camera, havent use my slr since end of June!
