X100 viewfinder lens problem?

Hi guys just picked up one of these in the classifieds.

Should I be able to see the lens when viewing through the viewfinder (bottom right) with the lens hood one it's really obvious.

LCD screen, electronic viewfinder and any photos don't show it but the real viewfinder does.

Can show some examples through the viewfinder later.

I'm happy if that's the case but was worried when a quick google search didn't show it as being talked about, thought it was a fault.

The x20 is the same. You're not looking through the lens hence being able to see the barrel.
