Xi'an - The Great Mosque

Xi'an has two mosques and we visited both of them. Here are some images from the Great Mosque. There is total silence in the grounds which is surprising because it is surrounded by 5 million people.

#1 - an arch within an arch within an arch

#2 - more arches within arches within arches, this is a big place

#3 - need I say more about arches

#4 - the Chinese love straight lines

#5 - just a tree in the grounds

I am not a fan of religious buildings in general. This one was very restful given the hubbub of the street market outside and the millions of people.
