When I change raw images there is an xmp file generated which (if I am correct) holds the changes to the raw file from as shot. If I wanted to revert to the file from the camera for example, can they be deleted or how does this file work?

If you are using Adobe Camera raw in photoshop or photoshop elements then yes they can be deleted.

I'm using Elements 6, thanks a lot I like to know how these things work so that if I need it I don't need to go into panic mode!!!

One other question - how can I save from .cr2 (raw) to jpeg or .jpg  I only get the option to save as JPEG 2000 (JPF) in the dropdown box  do I need to save as a tiff and then go to .jpg or am I missing something very basic?

:bang: thanks a lot, I knew there had to be something simple I was doing wrong!!
