I told myself that I didn't need yet another film camera. Bit bored, let's go on ebay, that's cheap, make a bid, why, don't do it. Winner, winner, chicken dinner! I was positive that someone else would make a bid for it.
Yet another Minolta, this time it's the XG M in superb condition along with a Minolta 28mm f3.5 lens. Fully working and just one tiny mark on the case.
I need to sell some stuff.

The good old days have gone what was it 10-20 years ago when people were practically throwing cameras, lenses and film away esp at the bootie and even on ebay e.g. bought 100 rolls of Fuji superior 200 iso 36exp, in date for £35.

Best little camera I've bought off ebay is the Pentax MV for £20. It's a cracking little pocket camera.

Coming back to 35mm, my first camera (dunno maybe 20 years ago) was the Canon FTB with 28, 50 and 135mm lenses for £10 off ebay.....the winder was very stiff and silly me didn't do some oiling and of course one day I forced the winder and something broke inside...oh well in the bin it went.

Just been out with a Canon FTB QL. First roll to go in it.

Around 20-25 years ago was the good old days, prices had rebounded by 2016, I know I'm a bottom feeder. I bought 2 10x8 cameras for about £600 each from the US, then a De Vere 5108 enlarger for £600 with 4 lenses and a 24"x20Beard enlarger easel.

Now that Beard easel can sell for £400, the 5108 enlarger for £3,000+, and the useless 12" Dagor thrown in with my first Agfa Ansco 10x8 camera is worth a lot more than I paid for the whole outfit. The Dagor's Compound #3 shutter was erratic, slow speeds didn't work, a very quick and simple fix, just clean and lube the slow speed piston, it's still accurate despite being over 85 years old. The camera also came with a NIB 10x8 Beattie Intenscreen,, last list price was over £400. The second Agfa Ansco 10x8 camera came with a huge 165mm f8 Super Angulon, worth between £1,500 & £2,000.

There are still bargains around, but getting harder to find,

Ian

Wow, I am sure I have a couple of large P Beard easels stashed away which I bought in the early 2000's at least one of the was far too big for my Durst L1000 there again I have just seen what they (the enlargers) are offered for.
