Well I'm going to go for it. Still trying to figure out where I'm going to put all the stuff I'm taking out of the garage, but I'm going to do it. Working space ill be about 2m 70cm x 5m not sure on the height, this will depend what I can do with the ceiling.

1st things 1st I have to get a ceiling in, it's way to cold in the winter even with a fan heater in there. So I have a load of plasterboard and itchy crap to put up top.

Have been keeping a close eye on cowasaki's thread http://www.talkphotography.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=209171 any hints tips or ideas very welcome.

OK 1st update I now have a ceiling  Was a hell of a job, I wanted to keep as much usable height as possible so didn't go for the option of plasterboading straight across the beams. Cutting and fitting into the space wasn't much fun but I think it will be much more usable.

Originally I hadn't planned to do a thread on this so I haven't got a pic with no ceiling.

mmm... i see a TP meet coming up...

Wish you had offered before I put the ceiling up, what a 'mare.

Lighting is going to be a bit basic to start with, until I can get something like the lencarta lights. I have the interfit ex150 2 head kit going to be using speed light as a backlight all wireless triggers.

Set of 3 backdrop rollers, undecided what to put on them yet.

THINGS TO DO
Finish painting :(
Put laminate floor down
Skirting boards
Fit rollers & backdrops
Put up curtains to hide garage door
Put some curtains up for changing area
Fit blind for window and door
Cosmetics e.g. mirrors

Get the lights in and start shooting

What colour are you thinking of painting the walls ??

What about a few boards with different wallpapers/textures on them to go with your backgrounds...

£5 for the dart board :P?

Hope everything goes well, if you were going to use wallpaper for different back grounds I would paper it onto a movable panals. You on dont have a massive amount of wallaspace and that way you can keep as much of the grey walls as possible.

Everything grey apart from the floor at the moment, wall paper ain't a bad idea. Have been looking at the vinyl that they sell in dunelm with different patterns on too.

If its dunelm in Bridgend, my cousin works there, might be able to get you discount...:naughty::naughty:

Yes, as i said mount the wallpaper etc on boards so you can move in and out as required....

Just a thought, what about painting that end wall white ??
A white brick wall would make a nice background for more fashion type photos, then you can drop your backgrounds over it for different effects ???

LOL, no way, the dartboard is staying, just take it down when someone is in there. Thanks for the tips.

Always too late, I spend about £700 in Dunelm recently doing out the lounge. Unfotunately there won't be an end wall when it's done. Wall in the pic will be staying as it is, still need the tumble and the fridge. Just going to have the backdrops coming down to hide them.

Well that's my break over with, better get on with the floor.

Floor finished yet.... :p:p:p

Wow quick work on the floor, it might be laminate but it still takes time to fit.

Nice one Lee. Hope you make a killing out of your new studio studio. I can sence a laundry theme shoot coming out of here soon.

There was me thinking it was taking too long to do it:D Damn hot work though, hence the fan on the floor.

Cheers dude, fingers crossed it will. I can see the advert now "model required, must have own marigolds"

Looking good... now I'm envious of you and Cowasaki  I like the background supports, although it is a pity you couldn't utilise the end wall though, although I suppose the corner of the fridge sticking into the shot would take the edge off them

He is certainly beating me on speed of completion although to be fair mine was more of a shell :)

I think he must have the 60 minute makeover team hiding behind the garage...:lol::lol:

I do have a lot of spare time to do it, between 9 & 2 most days

LOL

Would have been ideal for a time lapse vid :D

Nah, don't think anyone would like to see my ass hanging out of my jeans when doing the floor.

Cheers for that, that's quite handy, cheap too. Had a crappy day today, spent ages and not much to show for my efforts. Took a couple of pics anyway.

Funny you should ask, I had the weekend off, well I say off, went to ikea to get some stools (bargain) a mirror and some lights. Today built the stools, fitted the lights which are on 3 different switches, just in case and had a bit of a tidy up too. Latestpics below
