Yes
I returned to photography in late 2024 that was short lived as in march 2025 I found out I had a aggressive form of prostate cancer.
So spent the year having treatment .
So 2026 comes round and they then find I need a triple heart bypass so currently awaiting a date .
But I started taking pictures of my grand kids and got my mojo back big time .
In 2010 I was medically retired due to breaking my back in 3 places .
I have had a totally positive attitude to all the setbacks I have had .
I am loving getting back out again can't walk far but I have learnt to slow down think about the images frame them and put a lot more thought into my photography images .
It's so good to be back .
Regards Gerry

Welcome back, and it’s encouraging to see you embrace the positive.

I went through the triple bypass and a valve repair (no more murmurs) back in 2000. Recovery was a bit rough and I wasn't convinced that I was going to make it for about 3 months, but then realized that I was doing better than before the surgery. Three more months and I was feeling 10 years younger. I did great for about 8 years, but then have been collecting 1-2 stents at a time every couple of years, and now have 9. A pacemaker 6 years ago and a replacement pacemaker last February (needed battery replacement), but I'm still going. I ended up giving my #2 son all of my welding equipment and a lot of my metalworking equipment, because I can't electric weld any more after getting a pacemaker, but now I just get him to make or fix what I need. He is a certified welder and way better at it than I ever was anyway.

Work on staying healthy as best as you can, and see a good heart doctor whenever something "just isn't right". You have many years left, if you take care of yourself. I'm 84 now, so 26 more years extension of my life after the bypass surgery. I finally built my own photo/video studio upstairs in my house 6 years ago in a 19' X 26' shooting room (former 2nd Master Bedroom Suite), It's an out-of-control hobby now. I'm providing Professional Photography and Video Services free for my close friends and family, plus experimenting with lighting and mostly "still life" shoots to keep me busy, but the studio has Portrait and video capability too. I still love doing it, especially since going full Digital in 1998 (many cameras ago). I didn't like working with the chemicals back in the film days, but always had some kind of dark room setup for my film developing and printing. My dad helped me build my first in 1952 in the basement, but he used it too. I do all of the editing now and print all but larger than 13 X 19" myself in my studio with my Canon printers.

I think I appreciate my life and enjoy things better since my bypass surgery and "near death" experience 26 years ago. I take time for me now, and didn't very often prior to my heart problems.

I had five cousins, all about my age and just lost the last one 3 months ago and he was 77, all of heart problems, so my sister (4 years younger) and I are the only two remaining from my dad's side of the family. My sister has one stent and a pacemaker now. My dad had 5 brothers and one sister and they are all gone now too, and all from heart problems. I still have 4 of the 5 cousins on my mom's side of the family though. The one lost was from cancer.
