The accepted option is the Epson V700/750, I'm just scanning some 5x4 now

Another vote for the V750. I'd like a Imacon Flextight but een second hand they are beyond my reach

And test cards have revealed that actually there is hardly any/no difference in the resolved DPI of the V700 and V750, both of which come out at about 2300 dpi, so you might as well save some money!

Yes, no difference in resolution, but with the 750 I can wet scan and it does make a difference.

The wet scanning bit of kit does also work on the V700, you just have to buy it separately as its not included.

As above the V500 can only do MF not LF.
