Yet another website C&C request

I've just launched my personal photography website at www.nitinarvind.com and would appreciate it if you guys could have a look and tell me if there is something I have done wrong or could do better.

I do know that the site does not work well on IE6 but considering that not many people use it anymore, I have decided to ignore it.

Please bear in mind that this is just a place to put up my pics and I don't really intend to use it to sell my pics.

Also, when making suggestions for improvement, please consider that I don't know the first thing about HTML/PHP/CSS and I have done this using iWeb (with a lot of customisation).

Hi, for some one who does not know much about HTML/PHP/CSS I think you have done a fantastic job and looking at the website you can not tell at all! I can not find much to criticise from my point of view I think its an excellent website!

I agree, it's a very nice looking site, quick to load considering the number of graphics on it.

Nice fluid look throughout each area of the site, except for one thing I just noticed (it was the video page that made me see it).

I'm not sure the red text for the title works on the videos page, and I noticed that your page title shows slightly differently on each page (different colour, font, positioning), so I'd probably try to make that constant throughout.

Other than that though, fantastic job. :)

Thanx John, will have a look and make the changes.
 
id suggest losing the visitor counter, its not really necessary other than for your reference and most of the time you can get this from your hosting control panel. also if you can take off the "made by mac" bit, screams made on the cheap and amature.

it loads a little slow for me too? not sure if thats just my internet on a go slow.
 
I didn't spot the visitor counter, but I agree.

Usually a hit counter is taken one of two ways by your visitors...

1) "He's not had many visits, he must be crap"
2) "Oh, look at him showing off how popular he is!"

Either way, it's generally not a good thing to have public. :)

Like Neil says, more often than not your hosting company's control panel will allow you to see the number of visitors (as well as how they found you, your most popular pages, etc).

How do I go about seeing the visitor count on my hosting company's control panel? I'm using Mobileme to host my site and it's pretty minimalistic when it comes to a control panel - unless I'm missing something that's bleeding obvious!

I do agree about the "Made on a mac" bit. Kinda presumptuous, isn't it? Will remove that.

Can't remove the visitor counter however, until I figure out another way to see the stats as I mentioned in the post above.

I've no idea to be completely honest with you, I've never used them. You'll just have to have a browse around what they offer you and see if you can find it. Failing that, drop them an E-Mail to see what they say about it.

John, which pages exactly did you find with differing titles? I've been looking and they seem to be the same size to me, but then there are so many pages that I'm sure I'm missing it.
 
It's the pages linked across the top...

"My Photography" seems to be a kinda pale yellow, all upper case.
"My Travels" white font, all upper case, but the first letter of each word is slightly bigger than the rest
"Videos" red font, difficult to read, and a completely different font to the other two pages mentioned above
"About Me" another different colour, and aligned to the left instead of the center like the other pages
"Blog", we're back to the same text font, colour and style as the "My Travels" page.

I'm browsing with FireFox, btw, so if you're browsing with something else, it might just be an incompatible CSS issue or something.
