These were captured a couple of days ago in a pair of sessions using different flash setups. Both setups used a Yongnuo YN24Ex twin flash, one firing the flashes backwards into a 12 inch paper-lined bowl with a synthetic silk front diffusion layer, the other firing the flashes forwards, each flash having its own diffuser with three synthetic silk layers and one plastic paper layer. I thought the results favoured the reflector bowl setup somewhat, although there were so many variables involved for each shot it was difficult to be sure, My conclusions, such as they were, were based on how the raw files handled, especially some of the less successful ones which did not survive through to the end of processing and selection. Consequently, and especially given the processing used to reduce the impact of flash problems, I don't think these more successful ones have anything much to say about the relative merits of the two flash setups, so I have not annotated them to show which flash setup each image used; I think that would risk being misleading.
Both setups used a Sony A7sii with a Laowa 100mm 2X macro lens and two 2X teleconverters.
