So the TX version of the YN622 for canon arrived, i played with it for a while at home and used it at a wedding last week. SOOOOOOO much easier than messing around with the canon flash menu.

2 flashes on stands at the corners of the dancefloor, all set to 70mm zoom and 1/32 power via the on camera transmitter. Really easy to drop / increase power as needed and change zoom, although the first dance only lasted about 8 seconds. Was much more confident that if i neededto change anything i could do so speedily.

The ONLY annoyance is i couldnt have a flash on camera for any fill light, and i needed it.

Phil, i think you and i noted this on a previos thread and was wondeing if you came up with any ideas. I was toying with having a 3rd flash on a stand always within arms reach set to TTL that can move with me. Other than that some kind of flash bracket....

I was wondering whether the TX can be connected to the camera via a lead, then the hotshoe on the camera some how be blocked from a signal and another YN622 on camera with a flash on top to ETTL....
 
Waiting for mine to arrive.

Maybe you could use a small slide bracket on the tripod mount and fit another 622 on that so you would have a fill flash literally just to the one side of the camera.
 
or something like this for the transmitter, and then black the on camera hotshoe so that no signal passes through. I wonder if you can turn off the on camera hot shoe somehow, making it a cold shoe. You could then have a yn622 on camera with a flash in ettl all controlled by the TX.

Those brackets look like what I have. Worth a try at the price. Mines quite sturdy if you tighten it up well.

Well I've got an old flash bracket that'd do the trick.

that will probably work fine. Im wellpleased with the controller unit. Makes it so much easier for on the fly changes.

I have found another snag though. The YN568EX2s go to sleep and dont power up automatically. You have to walk over to them and press the button on the flash units. I can see the triggers flashing having received the signal so they have woken up but the flash units dont. Unless, yet again, im mossing something basic!

You can set the sleep after delay time on the 568s. Pity the trigger doesn't wake it up though, more drain on the batteries.
