Anyone used one of these yet? Just wondering whether to go for one or get a second hand Canon ST-E2.

Hmmm just done some more digging and it doesn't seem to be compatible with the 5D or 7D. That seems very strange. :?

I have not used one of these, however a member on here was a seconded shooter at one of my weddings last summer and he used one. His ST-E2 clone worked without missing a beat all day and well into the evening, and I am almost certain he was using 7D.

Never used one, don't need one, but I'd give it a punt. It has a good rep, better than Canon ST-E2, and half the price.
 
The reading I have done shows they are very good part from one thing the assist beam is poor so if you are using it for this the canon might be a better buy. This seems to be the only downside in the reviews I have read.
 
Thanks everyone. The AF assist beam would be useful but maybe not a deal breaker. I would still like 100% confirmation it will work on a 5D, though I can't imagine why it wouldn't. I read somewhere that an eBay seller responded to a query and said it wasn't compatible.
