You know that you want an upgrade when....

Well, didn't think that I would be reaching this point so soon.... I am already thinking about an upgrade soon.

Basically, I bought my 40D back June, and to start off with i was perfectly happy with my results (these same results are the ones that i now look back and laugh at). Also started off with a Canon 70-300 IS, and whilst a good lens, i soon realized that this wasn't meeting my needs, in terms of Aperture and focus speed. This led me to upgrade to a Canon 70-200 2.8.

The lens itself is a cracking lens, however I feel that my 40D is now letting me down. I honestly didn't think i would almost outgrown it so quick. Focusing, High ISO performance are my main reasons for outgrowing it. However, I need to start thinking about the upgrade. So far I have narrowed it down to: A new 7D or a second hand 1D MKIII.

Seems odd comparing these two, I would really love a 1DMIII after seeing some of the results on this forum, and yet I also feel the 7D would be a good (and probably) slightly cheaper option. I really am stuck as to what to do, and it doesn't help that I don't have a job at the moment, so it makes it even harder to think about an upgrade!

I am looking for some advice on anyone who has made a similar upgrade, and mainly did you think it was worth it. Bear in mind i mainly do sports, and moving into other sports, and getting a bit more paid work.

Cheers

Buy the best you can afford! Otherwise you'll keep lusting after the 'better' camera

For sports David, and im guessing your mainly looking at football, go for the MKIII its awesome and a real workhorse of a camera, you can pick up a minty 2nd hand body for not much more than a 7D.
