Anyone with the Zeiss (ZF or ZE) 50mm Planar or Makro Planar care to share their views and/or images taken with either ... I have the 25/2.8 and 35/2 and am looking to add this focal length to my MF collection :D

Martyn, I've got a ZF 50mm Planar and love it to bits. Its my "go to" lens and I'm selling most of my others because I just don't use them any more.

It's the ZF version rather than ZF.2 - not sure what the difference is.

I'm in Wolverhampton and you could pop round and try it on your D700.

Cheers Paul, the ZF2 has the electronic chip so that aperture can be adjusted from the dial on the camera, otherwise optically identical.

I have done endless research on this and I am coming to the conclusion that I would be better served with the Planar, the only concern is the constant reference I see to 'focus shift', does this cause you many problems.

I shall bear in mind your offer of a trial :thumbs:
 
I have the zf version to, I don't use out as much as I should, it is a lively lens, I havent had a problem with the focus shift
 
Aha! I guess that could be handy but I like adjusting the aperture manually. I get focus confirm and the aperture selected is transmitted back to the body somehow so that'll do for me.

Never seen any sort of focus shift at all. I've read it's a problem with the 50mm Sonnar (which I would kill for in M-mount) - didn't know it is an issue with the planar.
