Zeiss ZF.2 question for Nikon users

Hi

I wonder if anyone who has used a Zeiss ZF.2 lens on a Nikon camera can assist? Is it possible to change the aperture with the aperture dial on the camera body as opposed to having to change it manually via the lens itself? Thanks in advance!

Put the aperture dial to f/22 or f/16 and it should.

Thanks, that is what I had read. I only ask as I have just bought one from ebay (a 21mm zf.2) and when mounted on two different cameras there is no way of controlling the aperture on the body. The seller says that it is not possible with the lens, however all of the reviews I had seen suggest that it is. I haven't used one before so I thought I would ask.

I have the 21mm Zf.2 and it simply locks in at f22 which then allows for the on camera change of aperture. If that doesn't work then the seller might be fobbing you off

It was advertised as the zf.2 and does not have the 'ears' like those on seen on ai-s lenses, which I understand means it is the zf.2? It does lock at f22 but then it stays locked and can't be changed on camera though it can be unlocked and changed manually on the lens. It meters fine and I am just wondering if I am being thick and am missing something or whether it might be a lens issue. It is not a massive issue but I am just wondering if this is something that is wrong with it whether there may be other issues as the lenses are not exactly cheap.

With my Zeiss lenses I switch the camera from AF to MF and with the ZF.2 lenses the camera recognises them and the ZF lenses I set up a profile in the settings menu under non-CPU lens data.

Yup, exactly the same.

I also have the camera set to manual focus and I had set up a non cpu lens (20mm) but it makes no difference.

What is the camera saying on the top LCD? Usually if you're not doing it right you get the EE message on the ZF lenses but the ZF.2 with the microchip should just recognise the aperture on camera as you know. Try setting it to f/22 and lock it and then mount?

That is the thing I don't understand, I lock it to f/22 and it works fine (subject to changing aperture), but it also work immediately if set I at 2.8 and mount it where it displays f2.8.
