Zoom lens advice for Nikon D40x

Going to get my lad a D40x and a suitable zoom lens for it. I gather some lens will not Auto focus on this camera. Could someone point me to some zoom options for around £150.00 can be nikon or sigma and or another make. Ideally max focal length 200mm min not so worried as I have an old 18-70 dx lens he can use.

you need lenses which have AF-S in the description

or HSM if it's a Sigma..............however the Nikon 55-200 is brilliant at the price

Yep NIKON 55-200mm be would be ideal. Cracking lens for the money by all accounts.

Yup agree. As a D40X user i love my 55-200vr fantastic lens for the money.
