Zoom lens ?

Hi new to photography but trying to progress
currently use cannon1000D and looking to shoot wildlife for zoom pics.
Any advice on the lens i should be looking at would be greatly appreciated

For wildlife, the longer the better! I'd go with a Canon 100-400L or if you're on a budget the Sigma 120-400 OS is also good. If they're too much, the Tamron SP 70-300 VC is also very good, but not as long.

A 250mm lens for wildlife, hmmm depends what wildlife the OP wants to photograph, but 250 doesn't get you much reach.

OP what's your budget, that will help significantly on what suggestions are made, and what are you going to be photographing, birds from you window on the bird table or more outside shots?

Also consider 2nd lenses, you get more for you $$$, but a budget would help, otherwise you'll have suggestions from £160 - £8000

Budget would be £500 + a little if i had to .
I would be shooting birds in the garden ,range about 30 meters .
But i also do lots of outdoor activities walks etc shooting wildlife in general where
the range could be greater.

I reckon a second hand Sigma 150-500mm then or the 120-400mm.

Sigma 120-400, these pics are low res, the originals are tack sharp, don't be put off the Sigma 120-400.

My recommendation would be go 2nd hand, have a look at websites like Mifsuds, ffordes, camtech, mpb photography, digital depot etc also look at the forums, there's always someone wanting to shift a good lens or 2. Personally I would avoid eBay, unless you can go and try it out before parting with you money. A good copy of the sigma 120-400mm would get you started and you do have the advantage of the crop factor (1.6x) on your camera, so you are getting a bit extra.
