Hi,
please could anyone confirm if it is safe to move the ZOOM RING while autofocus is in action ? In my case I mean the situation where I use back button for autofocus / keep the AE-L/AF-L button pressed so the autofocus is trying to lock on the subject while at same time trying to zoom in/out the lens ? I am just not sure if this can cause any damage to the lens and find it difficult to remember not to touch the zoom ring while keeping my thumb on the AE-L/AF-L button. Thank you in advance for your help.

Unless you've got a rather unusual camera it should be perfectly safe to move the zoom ring anytime... it's the focus ring you have to be careful with as some lenses don't allow manual focus whilst in AF mode.
