    Lake District

Welcome to photography - I think we're all our own worst critics  And for my own pennysworth I think you've found some fine shots there. You've captured the lakes in a more dramatic way with moody skies that I quite like. Trust me; the lakes are more like this than sunny days. Perhaps your...

Camera = Pervert? It just got more extreme.

The only real relevance to the photographer was because the article indicated that a witness heard the attacker mention something about paedophile. Someone getting 2+2 and ending up with 5 again. With regard to my incident, the police ID'd me, gave me a slip (SA88?? - it was 4yrs ago) noting my...

Camera = Pervert? It just got more extreme.

I think this says more about the Forestry worker than the photographer. Although on a rare trip to my hometown and taking photos of the historic market place, I was approached by two policemen and cautioned with the terrorism act for 'taking photos in a popular and built up residence' or some...

    Hadrians Wall

Personally, I think that is a better crop. I feel like I'm looking at something more specific now. And I can also see what Chris is saying regarding the 'flow' of the wall. I guess the thing is, this is the shot you have and you have to make the most of it. I'd say this is a more pleasing shot...

    Hadrians Wall

I hope you don't mind me being a little harsh but I feel your pain with this shot also. I live near the lakes and take dozens of photos that 'just don't do it somehow' For me, it's a perfectly good shot, well exposed but there is no point of focus - no subject as such. Sure, you've got the wall...

My History of Seascapes (please view all images)

I really enjoyed the photos plus, the concept of seeing how your work has improved over a given time in just a few shots. Congrats on your post. Inspiration comes in various forms...

    Great Photography locations in London

Little Venice is always a favourite of mine. The only place in London where it feels like a village :o)

    MX5 in the Fells

Agreed, the lens flare was a problem.

Do you actually like your own work?

I think if this is a hobby to you, you have that luxury to suck once in a while. If you're doing this as a job however then of course there is a certain pressure to perform. I've never been paid to take photos. I think on occasion that they would be good enough but I don't want that pressure to...

Ok, a quick one from me. I got this the other week in the last last minutes before the sun went behind the mountains...

If there was ever a more graceful looking plane than the Spitfire then I have yet to see it. No.3 for me...

    Eilean Donan Castle

I shot this a couple of years ago but from the other side. I think you've got the better composition. The bottom RH gunk isn't distracting to me and it's authentic so I wouldn't remove it but the image does look very blue, especially in the bridge to the castle. Full moon, perchance??

    ferrari festival

I'm going for the tyre shot in the paddock too. I do like it when a subject is taken out of its usual environment and placed into another that you don't always think of...

Do you actually like your own work?

I think it's a cliche but it holds water: you are always your own worst critic. Personally I prefer the sage like words of the Gin Blossoms: If you don't expect too much from me, I might not let you down :o) Sometimes, when none of it seems good enough, go through the photos with a likeminded...
