    Lovely pics of it - it might be a dungfly but there is another yellowy fly that isnt one. If no-one on here knows for sure, there is the diptera forum that can tell you - I can post the link if you dont know it. Great eye detail on the other shot. Linda

    Thanks again everyone for the nice comments - really appreciate them. Re the long-winged form, I did read in one of my insect books that the long-winged form is only usually seen during hot summers, so maybe the very hot early spring accounts for this. Linda
