    Corfe in the mist

I'm in agreement that the previous foreground was a bit overpowering, this crop however is really nice, I think the forced wide aspect ratio from the crop has actually added to it too. Shame we can't see a larger version? the photo is private on flickr. Good work though :)

    Budget Tripod Recommendation

Currently looking at a Slik Sprint Pro II 3-Way, seems good.

    Budget Tripod Recommendation

I'm in need of a reasonably low cost tripod, ideally at a size that I can stash in a backpack but sturdy enough to support my 400D and 17-40 L. I currently have a Velbon CX Mini which is great but just doesn't have the height for some situations. Looking to spend around £50, maybe more at a...

    Loch Ness

Very nice indeed, I agree with B_M though about the crop off the bottom, I think it would improve it further.

A few long exposure photo's of the River Avon Nr Christchurch.

I find that photography plays a foul trick on us. We all learn about the rule of thirds, foreground interest, leading lines etc, and at least for me, I go out and never find a shot that I think is suitable to these rules, or good enough, and so I find myself taking less photos with the more I...

    So...How Did You Learn Photography?

It takes longer than 2 minutes to explain what aperture is (to a complete newcomer), then you have to explain how and why it adjusts the end result, and likely uses for it in different styles of photo. I can't be completely dim, there's whole books dedicated to the ins and outs of those few...

    Shooting modes's

I use M, unless the damn wheel has spun while I took my camera out of the bag, then its a bit like family fortunes until I realise what's happened ;)

    So...How Did You Learn Photography?

Seriously? :suspect:  I found it very difficult to actually get my head around shutter speed, aperture, iso and how they all change the end result, then when you need to adjust each one. Infact it didn't really click until I read Understanding Exposure. Granted I was trying to go...

National Geographic photographer face to face with Lepoard seal

Wow, what an experience. These national geographic photographers are very lucky to be able to do these things.

    Why Noobs Should "Chimp"

I found the technical aspects of manual exposure a bit overwhelming, but I like to learn things inside out. At first I was completely confused and to be honest I lost interest in my camera for a while as the learning curve seemed to steep, then this year I made a new years resolution to learn to...

    Why Noobs Should "Chimp"

Yep I did the same, buried my head in "Understanding Exposure", switched to manual and never looked back ;)

    Why Noobs Should "Chimp"

I always used to feel silly when shooting a landscape only to have the flash pop up (as I was using auto no less). I've seen others doing the same thing a few times since though ;)
