    NHS realities

I know a few colleagues who used to have private health care that they paid for. Except now that they’re older and more poorly, their premiums are eye watering. To the point where it’s cheaper for them to save and pay for private treatment out of their own pocket. There’s a graph that shows...

Is anyone familiar with building costs?

It’s a kitchen so the units/worktop/appliances were fitted in February. Everything else had been done by end of January including flooring and walls painted. The only things left after the kitchen was fitted was to make some small adjustments like get island drop lights fitted, wire in security...

Is anyone familiar with building costs?

We had a 5x6m extension. It started in Sept 2021 and was virtually completed Jan/Feb 2022. Cost was around £40k for the basic shell. It’s a kitchen and we added extra stuff so costs went up - stuff like underfloor heating, porcelain tiles, bifold doors, velux windows etc all were on top. Don’t...

What is happening/happened to our NHS ?

At our practice, even before COVID, one hospital would take 4-6 weeks for an X-ray report even though the hospital said one week.

Identity theft is not against the law

So we had a similar thing whereby someone had set up a business at our home address but under someone else’s name. Action fraud didn’t want to know. Companies house has a form to report on but also want proof of your ID, address etc. Funny how they didn’t need any of that when setting up the...

    Getting old

Diet is good and better than it ever used to be. Mainly vegetarian. I try to limit processed foods. That purpose thing though…I do feel like I’m just going on the hamster wheel every day.. I know it happens but feel 40 is a bit on the young side. Diet is good. Exercise - I do treadmill running...

    Getting old

I turned 40 this year. Old to some of you, young to others. But the biggest bugbear I have is that I seem to lack energy. I am quickly fatigued and don’t have the stamina I did when I was young. I could blame COVID but I never knowingly caught it and I’ve been feeling like this since 2019. I...

    WAMT....what annoyed me today!

i have long argued that the NHS needs to be removed out of Govt hands. It just gets kicked around like a political football. As soon as one policy or change is implemented, it barely gets any traction before another change or policy is implemented.

    Beginner lost all my photo's

One tip I learned from here is to use multiple cards. That way, if one card is lost, corrupt etc it’s only a day or half a day’s shooting that’s lost, and not the whole trip’s worth.

    Neighbours.

I used to love watching Neighbours. Think I started in the mid-80s. In primary school back then so we would come home, watch children’s TV shows until 530, watch Neighbours and go off and do my own thing. Later, Home & Away started so used to watch that too. Also got into Corrie and Eastenders...

    The Ultimate Man Cave

Furze is one crazy but inventive guy. I loved his flying hovercraft thing. Despite doing dangerous things, he is always protected by his safety tie!

    WAMT....what annoyed me today!

Front tyres were starting to get close to the wear marks so I replaced them two weeks ago. Today, there’s a puncture from a screw and it’s in a non-repairable area. New tyre again!

    Take care of your health

I think these two posts hit the nail on the head. Every time there's a new Govt or secretary of health or whatever, they try to make an impression by introducing some sort of change or shake up and they are gone before the outcome is known. It can takes for the effects of a change to become...

    WAMT....what annoyed me today!

Dyson and their sh***y screws. Stripped the head off one and almost the other. Just to remove the battery. There's another dozen screws to undo until I can get to the trigger and replace that part. Two years we've had that Dyson vac and it's already faltering. The other Dyson vacs we've had in...
