I had a lens that had a damaged coating on a convex front glass and it gave me a bright flare on all of my images, I eventually bought a scrapper and swapped the bits over however I did clean of quite a bit of the coating before repairing it and it was totally unusable even in low light...
Also consider hammock camping if you plan to give the proper sites a swerve, all you need is a hammock and a tarpaulin and maybe some pitons if no trees are about and you are all set, also Lidle and Aldi do some really cheap pop up tents which are okay for a day or two camping.
I used a cable tie on my suitcase when travelling to the states and the same on internal US flights I have an external zip pocket on my case so I put a pair of nail clippers and some spare cable ties in there so I can get into my case if needed, TSA will get in if they need too whatever is...
Looks fair dinkum Lee, No crit I am afraid but some camera phones are extremely capable these days and in many ways more versatile than a lot of cameras with waterproofing and video capture. I love my Samsung S5 for just those reasons :)
Really nice images, I have the Nikon version of this lens and always struggled with the DOF when using it on my Nikon D300 so I leave it well alone, but as far as zooms go I just couldnt believe how many times a modern full frame camera can zoom or crop into an image and still have a usable...
