    An unusual Flashgun request

Thanks, they boys were very pleased as you can imagine. Steve is not only very helpful, but is also very generous and has refused payment for the flashgun and the work he's done. In an effort to repay the niceties this forum has shown me I've made a donation to the latest post in the TP...

    TP Charitable Thread - Sponsorship/Donations

Hi Russ, I've recently received a big favour from one of the regulars on this forum, and he's refused payment. I just wanted to "pay it forward" and so I've made a donation to your charity event. Best of luck with the run!

    An unusual Flashgun request

Hi all, it was waiting for me last night. All I can say is "wow". I know you made this sound relatively easy/trivial, but I'd never have been able to create something like that. My effort would have been substantially more 'bodged'! The camera is almost complete, and I'll certainly share the...

    An unusual Flashgun request

Wow. What an amazing response! Not what I expected at all. I really appreciate your help, and I'll certainly take you up on that offer! Many many thanks! PMing my address now. One last question - have you got some pointers on how to wire in a power switch - I wouldn't know where to start!

    An unusual Flashgun request

I need a flashgun, nothing to unusual there of course. However, I don't need one for my camera.... I'm trying to build a speed camera. Don't worry, I'm not looking at worrying motorists, this is for a child's car themed bedroom. What I need is a flash unit which is: a) very cheap - second...

    Portrait Prime

Hi all, I'm in the market for a new lens, one that I'd specifically like to use for portraits. It's to fit a D7100, and I already have an 18-200(VR), a Sigma 10-20mm, and a 50mm 2.8 Sigma Macro lens. I'd like something sharp and fast, and within a reasonable budget, so I expect prime is...

    Landscape filter advice

Oh and changing the topic slightly - how do people travel with their camera? I've got a slingshot AW200 bag that will fit everything I need for the trip in, but do people tend to keep their cameras in their cases or take them on as hand luggage? Also, based on experience, is it possible to...

    Landscape filter advice

Ah ok, thanks for the info! Any recommended suppliers? The lenses I've got are the Nikon 18-200mm OS, 50mm Sigma Macro, and the 10-20mm Sigma. With the Lee holder, will I need a different adaptor for each lens? Any recommended suppliers?

    Landscape filter advice

Hello there, I'm travelling to the States on Monday (25th). I'm off to Vegas, the Canyon, a could of national parks as well as LA and San Francisco. I really plan on taking a lot of landscape shots, particularly at sunrise/sunset. When I've tried this previously I've always had trouble...

    Google Streets

What an article "Our readers have complained and managed to get photos taken down because they invade their privacy... here let us host these photos on our own website for you to see" Hmm... tastes... irony...

    My Little Boy

Yeah, most people simply convert an image to greyscale with one click of a button. Often the resulting image is a bit 'flat'. Simply google for some guides on black and white conversion - if you follow those steps then you should get a much punchier image.

    PhotoBox OR loxely Colour???

I've just tried using DSCLabs for the first time - their postage prices are insane though. £4 to send 10 photos by first class post. Crazy.

Very nice. I really like #2 (great crop), and #4 (nice relaxed pose, great photo).
