I'm lucky in that I've got a bit of cash. I'd like to set up a we buy any camera type site but reasonable offers. Do you think it'd be a goer?
Have you ever run a full busimess?
Can you afford to hold 'stock' (cash) on product that will depreciate in value (cash) every day. If not have you sourced an onward path to move what you buy on. Remembering the need to ensure you don't become an outlet for stolen golds.
Are you in a position to potentially franchise the idea in order to spread coverage and risk (geography, spread risk but less cash)?
How many others are in the same market (MBP,
LCE, Ffordes.....etc)
We buy any car has a viable and cash returning process for cars they cannot sell.... the scrap yard. Is there any potential to gain that route for cameras you cannot sell on. (Potential to break for spares, skillset to rate recovered parts for quality and price, loss of cash if you get it wrong, potential for extra cash if you get it right)
Many other risk factors and unknowns. (low turnover at starft means little discount from couriers etc)
I have closed my business and moved associates into companies that "bought" my client list. Value is the mainstay after cashflow
If you are serious the start with a realistic not hopeful business plan.
Time was a local Business Limk would assist mew start ups but Business Limk was closed down some time back, but there should be assistance available. If you have a local library still, start there to seek out what is available to start ups.
To reiterate
The business plan should be realistic and is meang to be dynamic. It is the first document you need to build when you start out. Be realistic and honest. If it is not you will only fool yourself and statements in it are the first thing others will challenge you to justify.
On a personal note and from my experience. It is hard work starting something from scratch - ask yourself (don't post on here) Are you fit and healthy enough to take this on? It can be a hobby locally but if it grows....
Good luck
Steve
