Superb Steve, those D800 files/captures ooze Clean--Clear--Clarity photographs. Looking forward to mine.
D8** shooters, which Nikon 'portrait' lens would you suggest I look at? Any image samples would be great, thanx.
Thanks for that.Depends on your space, natural light vs flash, subject number (groups/single).
You won't go too far wrong with a 24-70
The 70-200 is great of you've the room
85 is a lovely focal length
35 can be good for environmental portraits.
It depends really!!
Probably not very helpful! Sorry.
A bit more info will narrow it down!

Here's another from Sunday, I love the clarity this camera gives. Handheld with the 85 1.8g.

Appreciate the comments re the floral photo, thanks. Going to get another 50mm f1.8D at some stage, a great cheapo lens.
Been looking closely at the Nikkor 135mm f2 DC which doesn't seem to be mentioned much as a portrait lens, strange that...
I've been playing about with one but not had the time to devout to it... took this back in the summer, she's a live wire and portraits? Well, I gave up! This is at f2.8

Thanks for that.
The portraits would mainly be outdoors using available light to capture head shots and dogs etc, I've got a Yongnuo 560III flash but not used it yet. I'm going to order the Nikkor 85mm f1.8G soon.
