Show us yer film shots then!

Thanks for the great comments everyone. Forgot to mention; all taken on Hasselblad 500CM with 150mm Planar (scarily sharp) lens and on Fuji Acros

Really liking those, Steve.. nice to see shots like that in here! I came across a big box of stuff the other day from when I had access to a darkroom and there are some studio prints in there... must get them scanned!

Steve. Oh dear, sorry about this. And I'm no portrait shooter. I know this isn't a crit thread and I don't wish to upset anyone. Just my take..anyway #1. Fab lighting, great pose. I love the mystery of the shot. #2. For me if you're going to show the far eye she needs to turn more toward you. Far enough so that the nose doesn't break the cheek line. #3. Just needs a little light on the hair at the top of her head. #4. Sorry, I want to see all of her face. I get why you shot it this way but the whole face lit from just one side would work better for me (light and shade)#5. Of course it's about the mask but my eye is drawn to the girl. Therefore I want to see more or less of her.
Please bear in mind I know nothing.
Don't be offended, just my take as a viewer (not a photographer)

Thanks Trevor. No need to apologise; I really appreciate you taking the time to offer the constructive criticism. The portraits are part of my assessment for my evening class. I'm only doing the class for enjoyment and to improve my photography. So the more comments I get the better it is as I can use that information to help improve.

Steve, you are right there about the 150mm Planar,I have the CF and when first using the lens with my ELX body, not the 500CM,I was astounded by its performance.Takes a bit of getting used to,but, brilliant and at next to no money for a Hasselblad lens and very versatile.(y)

Now who would dare laugh at you for using a top end camera, the fools, do they know nothing?

Lovely shots mate.

Andy

Skysh4rk, I suspect the last laugh was indeed yours. Lovely images. :)

A few from me, the first one taken on 3 year out of date Fujicolor 100 and the rest on good old Agfa Vista! Quickly scanned on the V500.

I know, right? ;)

The guy honestly was dumbfounded that I'd even consider using film.

Lovely shots mate.

Thanks!

I really like the juxtaposition of the two ferris wheel photos; similar framing of the shape of the ferris wheel in each, but then much different images otherwise.

Lovely stuff RJ, more please.

Andy

RJ, you little liar, I can see three other people on the wall,:)

Great composition in the first shot, just love your foreground. Very nice indeed.Great light.

This was easily one of the highlights of our recent holiday; we had the Great Wall nearly to ourselves for our two-day hiking trip.

Wow, that's all I've got to say.

wow, that first one of the wall is incredible

Ha, I did say we 'nearly' had the wall to ourselves. ;)

Lovely stuff RJ, more please.

Thanks, Andy. I took quite a few photos over the two weeks of the trip (29 rolls of 120, in fact), so maybe I'll post a few in the Photos from Film section.

Lovely stuff....one very jealous guy here :)

Here are a few photos from Macau with my Bronica.

Probably nowhere near as exciting as the Great Wall in a photographic sense, Macau still had a unique, colourful charm of its own, heavily influenced by both Portuguese and Chinese culture. The contrast between the older, poorer sections of town and the newer developments—driven primarily by the region's rich casinos—was particularly striking.

Nice set of images RJ....I especially like the second and last one

That's fantastic, but I can't work out what's with the feathers at the back
Thanks Steve....
I'd been playing around with cropping........ the owl is about to puff himself up(he's actually laying on his lunch(a quail) and defending it from the birds flying past)....
The original looks like so......and I was quite close to him

@ Solo man Well you learn something new everyday ...I didn't know owls puffed up like that.

Tbh Lee, I prefer the original ...the crop is too tight imo ...either way, a nice bird, beautifully captured on film(y)
