    Beginner Exposure calculation from camera

Ok I did not consider/realize that the metering modes were changing between these modes. Point taken, will keep this in mind. Mind you, I'm not happy with the matrix one either it's still too dark.

    Beginner Exposure calculation from camera

Thanks for all your input, but I'm not sure we are along the right lines here. I now have some sample shots, I'll explain exactly what I see. https://photos.app.goo.gl/9c6cesxoUTiMLyw1A DSC_7401 - auto no flash DSC_7402 - aperture priority, ISO 200, f-stop at lowest possible setting. The...

    Beginner Exposure calculation from camera

I found myself doing exactly this, after my session at the airshow, I found myself needing to adjust most pictures. What I don't understand is why AUTO mode gave better more consistent results.

Sorry for omitting that detail. I was using center weighted. Matrix normally gives bad results because of the strong light and spot is too inconsistent.

    Beginner Exposure calculation from camera

I've been experiencing something I can't make much sense of recently regarding the automatic exposure calculation with my camera, at least I think it's that. Most of my shooting as at airshows and car shows, for static displays my settings are usually: In sunny weather: ISO 100 Aperture...

    Nikon warranty repairs

I have had dust cleans done from the viewfinder housing done by Nikon under warranty. This also included the above: Metering, shutter and exposure accuracy checked - recalibrated if necessary. Image capture, playback and delete functions checked. X-sync, hot shoe and speedlight function...

    Nikon D3300 Auto exposure

Yeah your question about the ISO is the same question I have. There's room for a higher exposure that can be chosen by the camera, but it doesn't for some reason. ISO is configured as auto, with a maximum of 12000. So, the camera can go up to 12000 if it feels it's needed, but didn't go nowhere...

    Nikon D3300 Auto exposure

Ok one example: 1/125 f5.6 - I was zoomed in to max ISO Auto 5000 Indoor dim lighting. 1/60 f5.6 - I was zoomed in to max ISO Auto (unsure exactly what this one was but was lower as the camera compensated for shutter speed) Same Indoor dim lighting The point I'm trying to understand is, the...

    Nikon D3300 Auto exposure

I also remember trying in M mode, with the aperture fully open as it would go, on auto ISO with a high limit something like 12000, and me controlling the shutter speed. The camera had plenty of room to correct exposure with the full open aperture coupled with the high ISO limit. It still gave...

    Nikon D3300 Auto exposure

Hi all, I'm a beginner and was experimenting with my camera yesterday. It was in the evening in my room with warm white LED ceiling lights. I was trying different modes taking pictures of random stuff, and what I noticed is when I let the camera deal with the exposure on S mode, the exposure...

    Dust in Viewfinder Nikon D3300

Hi all, Recently I have found a lot of dust in my viewfinder. The dust is behind the focus screen even, tried cleaning that to no avail. Not confident to go down further into the camera myself. Pictures come out fine - but this is very distracting for me. Does anyone know how much such a clean...
