My dscolourlabs prints have always come out quite abit darker than the image on my calibrated monitor , or my uncalibrated MacBook Pro monitor.
I always brighten the each JPEG as the final processing step before uploading it for printing which works for me.
It's a very sharp lens, I liked mine a lot.
I got abit fed up with the focal length though, and ended up selling it to get a 35mm (to use alongside a 50mm&85mm). I much preferred the 35mm focal length...

I used fixation last year for a repair on a lens and they were great. Very helpful and quick turnaround. I've no idea how they compare cost wise compared to getting Nikon to do the repair though.
D700 would be my choice. I'm Biased I guess as I owned one, but I used one again the other day alongside my D810 and had forgotten just how good it was (released 2008 I think).
Useable. From f2.8 it was very sharp though. I was happy using it over my Nikkor 24-70 2.8 for landscapes etc.
