Had to let me E39 M5 go about a year ago - it had a custom exhaust and was remapped. Best car I ever had and the engine noise was awesome.
I'm happy with the 335 touring that its been replaced with. Remap, Hartge springs and Quaife diff. Basically an M3 estate. Loads of room for any kit :)

If he's honest then I think you will get a positive response if you take the car back to him and explain what's happeneing. He should offer to re-skim the discs or replace them.
I see where you are coming from. I was curious about the watercooling as you've been quite brave to include it as part of a first build - good on you. I'd be even more impressed if you had to build the cooling loop yourself! :)
