To be honest, if the money is there, your wife has no issues with you spending the money and we all know that the e is sharper then just go and buy it.
I don't think that the photos you will get from a D800e are £300 sharper than what you get from a D800.
I m more than pleased with the sharpness I get out of my D800
No doubt it will be expensive but with the introduction of the new Sony A7/A7r , Nikon will have to put out an extra special camera. The rumour is talking about using the D4's sensor
I agree with Gary. Originally I went for a cheap one which turned out to be really bad and did work all the time.
Gary has poseted the same link above in the Nikon D800 thread which I have used to get the Meike grip and I m very plessed with it.
