    Lens service options

I'm a bit stuck... My Canon 24-70 f/2.8L MK1 recently gave up (aperture flex cable I think) and I haven't been able to find anywhere that can service it due to its age. I've ended up buying another lens to replace that for now, however, I would like to get it repaired eventually. I've also...

    Help picking a new lens...

Cheers, Chris. I'm not convinced my copy of the MK1 was particularly great - was occasionally quite soft in fact! Also, I'm not convinced anywhere still repairs them, hence the amount of broken ones on eBay. I've checked with Fixation and they definitely don't repair them anymore:confused: Do...

    Help picking a new lens...

My first time posting here in many years... I've recently started up with wedding photography again and my gear is a bit all over the place! So my main lens, a Canon 24-70 f/2.8L MK I appears to have died a death today. The aperture blades are stuck and from what I've read, this lens is prone...

Probably because it's not often you see an older couple getting married :) I quite enjoyed shooting that wedding - was the first one I did! I have a 'Contact' page with a little spiel about hiring me http://www.reynoldsphoto.co.uk/contact/ - would you recommend something bolder?

I'm an amateur, I suppose you could say "semi-professional" photographer, in that I have been paid for my photography before now... A handful of weddings, music gigs. How would you suggest I improve if I wanted to attract more customers?

Thanks for the feedback :) I have disabled the People & Portraits page, as like you say, the photos on there are very average. I'll reenable the page once I have some better photos worth showing off! I have also removed the duplicate photo of the wedding couple from the home page! Thanks for the...

Hey guys! Apologies if I'm posting in the wrong section... I'd be most appreciative if any of you could take a few moments to look through my website and let me know your thoughts! What you like, what you dislike and anything that you'd change. Comments on individual photos (and if you think...

    Critique A few wedding samples

Cheers for the comments :) The first one was candid / journalistic style and I was stood at the back of the church with a telephoto - beyond yelling down the aisle there was not much more I could have done about this one. I completely take on board all of your other comments. This is only my...

    How loud is your camera?

The Canon EOS 6D has a great silent shutter mode! Certainly an upgrade over the CLANK the 7D makes when shooting.

Strange marks on front element - coating degraded?

Just checked my copy of the lens, date code UW0212, and it doesn't seem to exhibit any defect of the sort... Hope this helps in your investigation :) [EDIT] Ooops, my lens is the MK I 24-70 f/2.8 - sorry!!

Love these, especially the first one! Mind me asking how that one was set up? :)

    Critique A few wedding samples

Bride and Groom have been asked by the local paper for some images from their wedding, so I sent them a few samples (they are still awaiting my final edits)! This is a wedding I shot last month in South Gwynedd around the areas of Ynys, Harlech, Llanbedr and Dolgellau. Let me know what you think...

Slightly missed focus - is this image acceptable?

Indeed I did and the rest were more in focus than this one! However, this was the only shot that both bride and groom were in a decent stance and looking in my general direction, so I decided that this was the best of a poor bunch! Taking on board everybody's responses I will include the photo...

Slightly missed focus - is this image acceptable?

Cheers Danny - that's some good logic!

Slightly missed focus - is this image acceptable?

It was one of those situations in which I had like 10 seconds to get from the front of the Church to the back, to get into a decent enough shot of them coming down the aisle. I managed to fire off six shots and this one the most pleasing one. I imagine the fact that it wasn't in focus can be...
