Congrats! - I had an EOS 5 for a few years - a very versatile and useable camera - I found the VG10 grip a useful addition. I never managed to get the hang of the eye controlled focus selection mind you......

Thanks everyone - I tend to mostly use standard-ish lenses, so the 50mm and 35mms are probably my first calls - the camera came with a 50/1.8. I've just got the first roll of film back and I'm very happy with the results. Also did a bit of reading this morning - the 28/3.5 looks interesting...

A friend has given me a Zeiss Ikon Super Ikonta in beautiful cosmetic condition. Unfortunately, however, the slower shutter speeds are clearly not correct. Could anyone recommend a reputable place capable of doing a service/CLA? Thanks

They've generally got a good secondhand stock as well. Always had a good deal with them.

I think from memory Error 99, was a non-Canon lens compatibility problem. My 30D triggered it when I used a Cosina lens - managed to get it fixed under warranty - I'm pretty sure it's a return-to-base situation, sorry!

I have currently (temporarily) got hold of a Nikon 80-400 f4.5-f5.6, which is great in terms of reach, and I really like it's sharpness. I do, however, find the auto-focus pretty slow, which can be frustrating. My question is related to the relative performance of, say the Sigmas 70-200 f2.8...
