Beginner EOS 250D - Auto ISO and Exposure

As a relative beginner I've been using my trusty 2000D for a few years. But I liked the idea of a Flip LCD screen plus other features that the 250D has, so I decided to buy one. Although I'm generally happy with the picture quality of the 250D, I've noticed a key difference compared to the...

    Autofocus issue

The camera is an EOS 4000D so nothing fancy. Also the 'test' I'm doing is very basic - a car number plate at 30m. VC on, aperture f8 shutter 1/200 and view finder. Handheld so I know there's a risk of shake - but I'm doing this on purpose just to see how well the lens performs in terms of vc and...

    Autofocus issue

Thanks. I understand what you are saying about 200mm being the extreme limit of the 18-200 lens. Is it fair to say that when shooting at 200mm with this lens, AF may be 'challenged' somewhat? As I mentioned, about 80% of the time the AF hits the target with sharp shots.

    Autofocus issue

My Tamron 18-200mm VC lens doesn't compare well in terms of autofocus with another lens I've got. I wanted to see how sharp the lens is at 200mm, so I did some tests. With autofocus (single point) on a small target, about 8 out of 10 shots are reasonably sharp. The other 2 are slightly off ie...

    Image Stabilisation working?

Thanks for the tips. I'll give them a go. Having just received the lens, I wanted to check that everything is ok. I think the lens is good, I just wanted to make sure the IS is working.

    Image Stabilisation working?

I have just upgraded my original Canon lens (EF-S 18-55mm non IS) with a EF-S 18-55mm f4-5.6 IS STM version. I bought it from what appears to be a reputable seller on Ebay. Advertised as a new white box kit lens. It certainly seems new and I am particularly impressed with how quiet it is, which...

    Beginner AF variation between cameras?

Thanks for the comments. I realise that the test was not very scientific - All we did was take the same shots standing in the same position. One camera tended to have one or two more AF points lit compared to other (which happened to mine). I'll now accept that some variation is normal - I was...

    Beginner AF variation between cameras?

My friend and I both have the same model camera and lens, an EOS 4000D with 18-55 mm stock lens. Whilst trying things out, we noticed that the sensitivity of Auto Focus seems slightly different between cameras. We simply tried taking identical shots in auto (A+) mode with the same zoom setting...

Beginner Upgrading from a Bridge camera

Thanks all for the great advice. Very helpful. Certainly much for me to digest. No doubt I'll have more questions as I get to grips with my EOS.

Beginner Upgrading from a Bridge camera

Some advice if possible for a DSLR novice, please. For the past few years I've been using a bridge camera, a Fuji Finepix S4300. Wanting to take Photography more seriously without splashing out too much, I bought a Canon EOS 4000D with a stock 18-55mm lens. (Yesterday I also added a Tamron...
