I too would like to add my condolences to his family and friends, I did meet Chris a couple of times at the mega meets He and Yv organised at Whipsnade village hall, a interesting and knowledgeable man.
I agree the Scots should have been given the try but as the referee had said in his view it was held up the replay has to show clear evidence that the ball had been grounded.
The reviews did not show clear evidence so the referees opinion stands.
A bit of googling suggests 1907 but like a lot of vintage transport its a bit like "Triggers Broom".
