I first installed ML back in July 2011 or thereabouts. No problems with either camera. I check the nightly builds and update the 550D if I see anything of interest. The "Armageddon" clause is just to cover their part of the human anatomy that goes over the fence last.
Again no problems...
I came across the 350D on sale at a big box store in Aug 2009 as a display sample for $169.00 without the lens mounted and still in the original wrapping. I had to remove a small fingerprint from the mirror and a few specs of dust on the sensor. The rubber eyepiece was missing but no big deal...
Add my name to the list of very satisfied users of these lenses.
Both the 85mm f1.4 & 8mm f3.5 came with the Nikon mounts for my D300 which has focus confirmation built-in. I use a Nikon G lens to Canon EOS adapter with focus confirmation on it for a 550D. (The best of both worlds). The 85mm...
Have you given any thought to the Tamron SP 70-300mm f/4-5.6 VC ?
Their 3 axis vibration control is nothing short of amazing. I've had good results with shutter speeds as low as 1/15 sec. @300mm handheld. The IQ is also very good. Focusing and zooming is very smooth with no dead spots...
Tnx for the reply.
My intention was to show the wide open capabilities of both lenses and nothing more. The Rok has a 1 f stop advantage over the Nik and does a very good job wide open. Stepped down to f4 or 5.6 the Nik is very hard to beat but ultimate sharpness is not that important to me
Here are some pix for comparison of the Rok 85 vs Nik 135. The same rose on the same camera (D300) same tripod, all at the same time. The Rokinon (Samyang) can stand on it's own as far as I'm concerned. ASA 500 on lazy (program mode)...
I've been using the Rokinon (Samyang) 8mm fisheye for about 1 year and the 85mm for about 1 1/2 yrs. Both lenses have a nikon mount (for the D300) and since this camera has focus confirm built-in they are good matches. An inexpensive Nikon to Canon EOS adapter with focus confirm chip allows me...
If it were me I'd approach the company's Human Resources Department about the possibility of putting a selective breeding program in effect for their security people.
I've had the Tamron 18-270 much longer than the 70-300. The 18-270 is a much better all around lens mostly because of the 18mm focal length. I believe that prime lenses offer the best image quality but are not as versatile as a multi focal length lens. I think it's a shame that so much...
Heres a pix I took this last November (Thansksgiving day) at a friend's house.
The Camera is a Nikon D300 AND the lens a Tamron SP 70-300mm F/4-5.6 VC. The lens & camera combination weigh in at 3 lbs 15 3/4 oz !
Good photo and weight training combination...
