    Car tax direct debit question

Hi all, My car tax renewal is coming up for the end of November, and I see that people who need to renew their tax from the 1st November 2014 can now pay by monthly direct debit and so I think this is a good option for myself. But what I don't understand is this: ------ When the Direct Debit...

    Be careful with moonpig

Hi all, I was just on moonpig trying to buy a card for valentines day for my girlfriend, and you know it has a tool where you can add your own photo etc? Well when I got to this stage I saw someone elses photo and private message. It wasn't a template because the message was really personal and...

    Spot metering

Hi all, I'm just wondering, when you use spot metering, which 'spot' is it taking the metering from? Is it the center of the frame, or the focus point? Thanks! John.

    Self Portrait Challenge

Pop a selfie of me on here everyone would just destroy their monitors lol. I hate having photographs taken of myself, so I never do selfies xD. Lovely selfies there though! I like the one with the dreamy effect.

    B&w princess

Lovely photograph there. The colour one looks superb! With the B&W one, in my opinion, if you could make the background a bit brighter / more closer to white, that would help to separate her from the background.

    My little sister

Some nice shots there, especially the second one. However in my opinion, in the first and second shots, the background is too busy. If you look at the second shot, towards the top left (her right) there is a large amount of pure white (oops, forgot the photographic term!). Be careful when...

Shooting at night i.e. the moon?

Hi all, I think a couple of nights ago I watched an episode of BBC Click, and there was a photographer there taking photographs of the moon and teaching watchers how to do it. He said something on the lines of "Use an aperture of about f/4". My question is, surely it would be better to use a...

    Cleaning Nikon V1 sensor

    Cleaning Nikon V1 sensor

Hi all, Does anyone have any ideas how to clean a Nikon V1 sensor? I tried using 14mm swabs, and whilst these are good, they just seem just a tad too big. I then tried those little things which look like cotton buds by just putting some eclipse on it but these just leave streak marks. Any...

    upgrade from canon 450D

Hi Graham, I've been all over the place with DSLR's, I've upgraded, downgraded etc etc, but what I found was that there was no need for me to upgrade. My advice to you is to only upgrade when you need to. Cameras are already very good and new camera models only differ slightly. I find that...

How often do you get your sensor cleaned?

Depends, when I start seeing a lot of dust specs then that's when I get my dust blower and wet cleaning kit out and just try to clean it. If I see one dust spec in just a small number of my photos I tend to not really worry as actually it's really hard / impossible to get the sensor 100% clean.

    Make backgrounds whiter in Aperture?

Personally in Lightroom I would use the brush and just bring the exposure up and paint over the background.
