You're absolutely right there !
TBH I would far rather have been able to buy a TZ70 (or even a TZ60) for half the price of my TZ99.
In fact I am even starting to think I'd rather have a TZ60/70 than my TZ99 at the same price ! !
True enough (apart from the cost of the development / programming), but I still think it's exceptionally tight on a camera which cost nearly £500. Particularly when its predecessor, the TZ70 did have it and was only £214 (in Dec 21) !
As a side issue your point about software being free (or at...
I have had Panasonics for the last 20 years odd (TZ5, TZ18, TZ60 and TZ70), all of them had a small amount of internal memory and I have had to use it more than once. The odd time the SD card has failed but more frequently (far more frequently ! ) when I have forgotten to put the SD card back in...
I was out on Saturday for a walk and wanted to take a pic of something interesting so whipped out my camera (a Panasonic TZ99) but the SD card had developed a fault on it. What surprised me is that the camera would not let me take a pic, and when I got home Google confirmed that the TZ99 really...
Thank you for your suggestion, but the "fault" sometimes occurs even if it's the first pic after having turned on the camera.
I don't know if it's the same "fault" (since I have had the issue even when there is light) but whilst in the WWII shelters in Rabat (Malta) I tried to use the camera to...
Bought a Panasonic TZ99 back in June and am in two minds about it, the thing is just so complicated, it is significantly more so than my prev TZ70..... I sometimes have issues with it and cannot fathom if it's a fault or it is set in some obscure setting !
The most annoying "fault" is that...
In the end I bought the TZ-99 from John Lewis, and paid the extra £30 for the extended warranty so at least I have peace of mind for two years !
The TZ-99 slightly bigger (thicker) than the TZ-70 and heavier, mainly due to the fold up screen which I am in two minds about because I am concerned...
I readily accept that mobile phones have decimated the sales of digital cameras, but not so much that of super zoom compacts. I would have thought so anyway.
Does anyone have any sales figures for this ?
Why would sales of superzoom compacts have fallen off so much, bearing in mind Mobile phones have not got much zoom capability ?
I would have thought the sales of low zoom cameras would have fallen off more, yet Argos are selling an Agfa 8X zoom for...
Did a bit of research on this.
My TZ-60 cost me £250 in 2015 (plus Jessops extra cover warranty at £55 for three years).
The present equivalent the TZ-99 cost £470.
Using the Bank Of England inflation calculator £250 in 2015 is now worth £344 (i.e. the TX-99 is still 26% more expensive, allowing...
I answered that at the top of my post :
The extended warranties I used to take out from Jessops did, though I think they were like the John Lewis one : a breakdown in the first year was covered by the manufacturers one year warranty but in the second two years it was covered by the extended...
