    File viewer for travel

I have an old Lenovo Yoga 2 11 which I wanted to use for downloading, viewing and copying files to USB stick or ex.hardrive as backup of images during travelling. The laptop is a great size to take with limited luggage space but unfortunately it has Windows 8 which does not support .orf raw...

    Restoring external hard drive.

AF not so much an "Oops moment" but "what the .... have I just done!!! ". Luckily Seagate were sympathetic and sent me software to restore the missing files, and yes the lesson has been learnt.

    Restoring external hard drive.

Many thanks for your replies, most helpful. I believe I have recovered about 95% of my files although some were not recoverable. Nod....The file system on the old drive is NTFS but the new drive is exFAT . Will this cause an issue if I copy from the exFAT to the NTFS system ?

    Restoring external hard drive.

In a fit of madness recently I accidentally deleted about 10 years worth of images from my external hard drive. I have successfully retrieved most of the files on to a second hard drive but so that I have duplicate storage in the future I want to copy these files back to the original hard...

    Tablet-Android or Windows

Thanks all, some useful data. I have looked at the Samsung Galaxy 10.1 and the Huawei Mediapad M5 but didn't know if they would manage raw files. The Dell also looks interesting as it has the keyboard and could load PS Elements, but I would be interested in its combined weight as I will be...

    Tablet-Android or Windows

I'm looking to buy a lightweight, budget (<£200) tablet for travelling purpose and to view and store Canon CR2 raw files, as well as the usual internet, emails etc. Any thoughts on whether I should opt for an android or Windows 10 tablet and if so any recommendations as I realise my options...

    Dash Cam or Mobile

Thanks for all replies. I think that a budget dash cam will give more consistent results rather than trying to convert an old mobile phone. Just need to find the best one I can afford.

    Dash Cam or Mobile

I want to record mountain landscape whilst driving and trying to decide if a dash cam or a mobile phone (set up as a dash cam) will give the best results. Has anyone any experience of either ? Quality of the footage will be important but not looking to spend too much.

    Memory card problem

I use the CF as primary as its faster for continuous shooting, not that I shoot any more than 3-5 shots at any one time. I used to have the SD set up as a backup for when the CF was full but recently have set it up to copy images in jpg for ease of quick viewing. It's interesting that an...

    Memory card problem

My Canon 7D Mkii has been using a 64 GB SanDisk Extreme CF card (120 MB/s) for RAW images with no problems but recently started to use the SanDisk Extreme SD card (90 MB/s) for backup jpg images. I have found that several jpg images are missing which I am assuming is due to the lower read/write...

    Dash Cam video

Thanks Ken, using a phone was another option and your video clip has given me an idea of quality achievable. Can you tell me what phone were you using and what size micro sd for what length video ? To use a phone would save me buying something else and I need an upgrade. :)

    Dash Cam video

I will be doing a road trip later this year using a rental car and want to be able to record the scenic landscape as I drive. The options are to buy a standard (cheaper) Dash Cam or to buy a Go Pro and use as a Dash Cam which I could use elsewhere. I have never used either and would appreciate...

How Do You Carry Your Cameras with HEAVY zoom lenses? Looking for strap recommendations

I had the swivel clip break on a cheaper strap but luckily caught the camera in time. I now use a "Think Tank" strap, off a bag that I don't use, attached to the tripod plate on the lens foot of a Canon 100-400mm/ 7D Mkii combo. The balance is perfect with the camera lying at arms length ready...

    Travel lens

I was thinking of trading in the 16-300 for the 18-400 and not taking the Canon 100-400 but I agree that I need to check out the sharpness before I commit. Thanks for your comments.

    Travel lens

I am toying with the idea of buying a Tamron 18-400mm as a travel lens as weight is an issue for an upcoming holiday. My kit currently includes a Canon 7D Mkii, Tamron 16-300mm, Canon 100-400mm, and Sigma 10-20mm. I want to take the 10-20mm for landscapes but thinking that the Tamron 18-400...
