Campervan - The new "must have" piece of equipment ?

I converted a VW T4 myself. Having been lifelong campers my wife & I fancied a bit more comfort but on a limited budget. Having kitted it out with 12 & 240v electrics and a recent solar panel i've now found it makes a great base for photography, especially those early mornings or times you want...

    Camera bag

I've got a cheap padded insert that fit's in several bags depending on what's needed. I've got a Lowepro pro trekker which is a bit big if you are just out for a walk or holiday. I've got a nice smaller canvas backpack that i used for one or two lenses for a walk or a messenger bag which comes...

    Long term time lapse camera..?

We've been using the Brinno TLC 200pro for a few years for our garden construction projects. Great piece of kit. Setting up can be a bit hit and miss. The wide angle lens generally captures most things but the screen is very low res so it's usually post and hope. Half the time we have it up...

Decisions that involve the D750, D850 and DJI Mavic

If money was no object i'd say get a drone as they can produce some interesting new elements, but they are more of a supplement to photography than the main thing. They are better if you are into video. We have one at work (landscape Gardening) I take the stills shots and a bit of video and we...

    Do you have battery grip?

I got one for my 70D but found it too unwieldy. I've used the camera without the grip for a full days shooting at Goodwood 600+ shots and still not emptied the battery. I've finally started to use the grip as i've bought the Sigma 150-600mm and it helps balance the lens on the gimbal.

    Gopro or no?

Gorpos are great for action videos and can take good quality stills but they don't replace a stills camera. I have a hero 4 Silver. I fine video editing a PIA. Also my videos seem really boring! You need to capture lots of short clips to make things interesting. The trouble with the stills...

    Which Canon L Lens?

I found the Tamron to be sharper. I had both one after the other, same settings on my 70D. I know that's not scientific, but today I've seen very few reviews of the Tamron against either Sigma. I'm also in the dilemma of what to buy. I have an old Cannon 300mmL non is which is great quality...

    Which Canon L Lens?

Has anyone tried the new Tamron 150-600mm G2? I had a quick play at an LCE event and found it slightly better than the Sigma C. Its a similar cost to the Sigma Sport version but same size & weight as the C. My test shots were hand held in the car park so not ideal. I'm wondering if it...

    Walking boots...

I've got a pair of Meindl Burma Pros. i bought them to do the Three Peaks Challenge in 7 years ago and they've never given me blisters or leaked. They cost £180 before discount at Cotswold Outdoors but they checked my feet, kitted out the insoles to match. They've cost me less than £25 per...

    Mac backup/storage advice with Aperture

I've been using Aperture for 3 years and before that Canons DPP. My 750Gb hard drive is now getting full and I need to remove some photos off it. I currently use a 2Tb hard drive with Time Machine to back up everything and an old 500Gb HD with just a Vault backup of Aperture. I have a new 2Tb...

    Gopro Advice

Can anyone help with some Gopro advice? I'm looking at getting one to take with me camping, kayaking and walking, as they are easier to chuck in a bag than the DSLR and a bit hardier. I would be using some video (as a complete novice) but i'm really interested in time-lapse, slo-mo, night and...

    Car buying help...

I had a similar crisis. I went for the A4 estate as they are well built last forever and it still looks good at 10 years old. I'd look at a sporty A3 model.

    24-105mm L series

I've got the 17-55 f2.8 and my dad has the 24-105 f4. IQ wise they are both very good I went for the 17-55mm as when I looked through my shots a lot were at the wider end and I couldn't afford a separate wide angle. you could go for the 24-105mm and keep your existing lens as a wide angle for now.
