Yeah, the lack of IS shouldn’t matter too much to you then.
You may also want to wait and see what Sigma has to offer... shouldn’t be too long now... hopefully.
I have never used the GM and would never consider that lens because of its size and price.
Have had my Tamron 70-180 for about a month now and it’s currently permanently attached to my camera. Because of its size and weight, I have no hesitations in taking it out with me. It’s great for taking...
You may also want to consider the new Tamron 28-200mm f/2.8- 5.6 as an alternative to the 24-105mm.
It’s definitely a cheaper, more versatile lens. It gives you a range of 28-105mm @ f2.8 to 4.5 plus you get 105-200mm as a bonus.
It’s sharp too with decent close focusing abilities.
Took the kids and the Tamron 70-180mm to a local country park today to give the lens a proper test. I knew the lens was good but didn’t know it was that good!
Having the extra reach in such an open space is brilliant, especially when you have kids who don’t like to be photographed. I love...
I agree.
Just trying to speculate what the grey price will be using the new sigma 100-400 as an example (£899 UK, £649 grey).
This should hopefully come in at around £749 grey (£999 UK).
This is my first telephoto lens so can’t comment on the missing 20mm. But the reviews I‘ve seen suggest the difference is not that big. Can always crop a little to get to 200mm.
My Tamron 70-180mm arrived this morning. Had a brief test and all is well.
However, I can hear the internal focus mechanism moves slightly when the camera is not switched on.
For those who have the lens, is this normal?
Thanks.
