YIKES! DPI question for 6X8 foot poster!

Hi guys, Well, just got an assignment this AM to make a 6X8 Foot poster for a friend/client (they're kinda both, so I didn't mind taking it on such short notice). So , we took the shots and they're ready to process. My camera is an 8 Megapixel Canon S5. i took the shots on highest settings of...

    Make Your Own SLR

Craziest and most ingenious thing I've ever seen.

What is your favourite camera of all time?

In days of old, I can't say simply because I used too many types and makes of cameras to have any favorites. In recent times, I'd say the D90 as well as the D60 and the canon S5 (for its video capabilities).

    Nikon dslr which one ?

Honestly if I had to choose a new camera I'd always go for the newest camera - in this case the D7000. But the D3100 is no sitting duck either - a fine unit. But I usually buy cameras second hand anyhow and splurge on new lenses. Makes more sense economically. As long as Nikon can't outdo or...

    nikon d40

If this is your first DSLR and someone is offering you a good unit that is sound, then by all means go for it. You will NOT regret it. I'm on the lookout for one myself , the D90 for me was simply too dang big because I take my camera for long hikes.

    Elitism - why?

Why? Simple reason: money. Photographic equipment costs loads by virtually all standards, so people paying more for stuff tend to sneer or look down upon others with lesser grade materials. If top cameras, lenses, and other paraphernalia cost only a few bucks, elitism within the field wouldn't...

    Tripod suggestions?

I can recommend the Giottos series. They run roughly two hundred dollars (head included - I went with Manfrotto). Tough and sturdy, which is what you want. Wish I had a model name, but I sold mine about two months ago.

    canon to nikon

I like both, though my only Canon ATM is an S5. I just find technique and lighting makes shots, not cameras. But Nikon glass...sigh...

What aperture do you generally use?

My photography leads me towards using wide open apertures most of the time. I switch to F8 or 11 for most portrait work - even outdoors with the right backgrounds. For quick street work and improv shooting, I switch to P mode and let the camera decide unless I want to fiddle - which isn't often.

Nikon Lens choice - What do you think?

Well, seeming how you bought a DX format camera and not full frame, I suspect you're more concerned with just making great shots and having fun while you're at it. Not sure if the D5000 handles high ISOs as well as the D90, but if it does, I'd recommend going for the 70-300VR and bumping up the...

Fox Hounds: Not for the squeamish

70-200VR...wow - the quality shows. Lesser glass wouldn't have delivered such crispness and fantastic shallow DOF. Good on ya :)

    Nikon walkabout lens

I'm kind of wary in regards to them, but I'd keep an eye on the upcoming 55-300 VR and the 28-300 lenses. If their IQ rivals existing lenses in these categories, these new glass units might be the ticket for daily walkabouts.

Fox Hounds: Not for the squeamish

Great shots. I love the Bokeh as well as the perspectives - though I would have enjoyed getting down and nasty with the dogs at their level while they're tearing up that leg (kidding). :) By the way, what lenses were you using?

    Am I wrong to laugh?

Already invented. It's called "rock". Sometimes "pole". :D
