    tunnel vision

Very clever - that looks amazing. Added benefit of having to eat the contents of the tube first.

    Bempton cliffs

Been a while since I've been there. Used to do a lot of sea kayaking around Flamborough Head. Seem to remember a number of pubs in and around Flamborough. Maybe worth trying them for accommodation. A quick search brings up The Viking Inn.

    Hardwood or laminate flooring ?

I can't remember what I paid - too long ago, but that sounds expensive. I had to shop around. Local supplier was much more expensive than one 20 miles away! I agree with James on fitting. I've got concrete floor over which they laid a self levelling screed and then glued laminate tiles to that...

    Hardwood or laminate flooring ?

I have this in my hallway and downstairs loo. Been down about 12 years and looks as good as new. Had loo refurbed recently, and the footprint changed, so had to patch areas. Still looks as good as the day it was laid and you wouldn't notice the patching.

    Cordless Vacuum Cleaner

Had a corded Dyson for years, which was the best vacuum I had owned. Much more powerful than others I had used. Decided to get a cordless many years ago. Also got a Dyson V8, but got the Absolute model. Best decision I have ever made. Still got the corded Dyson, but it hasn't left the cupboard...

Notice Some big changes coming to TP

I have enjoyed this forum for many years. Although I have not been so active with my photography due to looking after my Wife for 13 years who had Alzheimer's. This restricted my ability to go out and about with my camera. During this time I was able to feel I was part of a very special group of...

    NHS Contact ?

I think you need to raise awareness at a fairly high level. My normal approach when organisations don't offer transparent routes for communication is to go to the CEO. I find this website very useful. Unfortunately it does not show detail for NHS England. I would try as a first point of contact...

    My life.

Alan, Just one thought to share with you. I found that many people my Wife and I regarded as friends slowly disappeared from the scene. In hindsight I do not believe they knew how to handle being near someone with Alzheimer's. In fact, I think there was fear. This may be the mind set of your...

    My life.

Alan, Firstly, I am very sorry to hear of your situation and, from my own experience, would reiterate all the postings encouraging you to seek help. To put my own situation into context. My Wife was diagnosed with early onset dementia at age 58. I had retired early and became her carer...

Merry Christmas all and, hopefully, a better New Year.

Anyone know about increasing v uplifted pensions?

Firstly, I will reiterate all the comments about taking professional advice. I retired early 20 years ago. I had a company pension that had changed over the years with different inflation increases applied to different elements of the pension based on time periods. I think the pension handlers...

    Insurance suspension - best course?

Worked in insurance before retiring 20 years ago. Most of the traditional insurers used to offer "laid up" insurance with the car being covered only for Fire and Theft. Aviva was, before name change, one of those insurers. I would ring them and see if still available.
