Hey Bender sorry for the late reply. I was using a Tamron 70-300 on my Nikon D300s. At Screech Sanctuary they have a small selection of their owls tethered in a semi circle all with their own box to sit in so I managed to snap him at ISO 200.
I thought it was a a great idea because it means...
Cracking images the last one being my favourite.
Can I ask how you come to catch an image like it? Is it a case of taking a series of exposures and waiting for the lightening to strike in one of the shots?
Thanks Simon
I tried some shots of an owl in flight a few weeks back and struggled like mad. Its shots like this however that make me want to get straight back out there and practice, practice, practice.
Fabulous shot.
So me and my girlfriend visited Screech Owl Sanctuary a few weeks ago on the way back from holiday. Managed to get this capture this chap looking straight at me.
All feedback welcomed

Haven't really used the D300s in anger for a while so after looking up to see a lovely full moon I popped into the garden. Got a few full on shots but then fancied trying something different. I know the focus isn't perfect but was just wondering if anyone had anything else constructive to chip...
Sorry looking at my post I can see how you have come to that conclusion.
I bumped this thread as I am interested in getting either a 10-20 or 8-16 so rather than start a new thread I searched and came across this one :)
