    Hartshead Pike at dusk

Thanks Gaz :) It's a shame that the image appears less saturated on here (hosted on Flickr) than it does in Photoshop :( Edit: It's not Flickr. Just compared the image in Photoshop to the same image in my image viewer (FastStone) and it has lost saturation! Anyone got any idea why this might be?

Whoops, sorry! I deleted the first image from Flickr, forgetting it would break the link. Thanks for your comment Mank :)

Yes, I used a feathered brush the first time, but a hard-edged one for the edit to make sure there was no overlap of the edge of the tower. I don't know why there's a halo still visible. Perhaps it's an illusion? :D

    Hartshead Pike at dusk

Hi, I live on the Stalybridge/Ashton border and been up there many times! I don't have any more photos of Hartshead Pike though, sorry :)

Does this look better? Hope so, I spent ages trying to fix it. Incidentally, I'm sure it loses saturation after uploading to Flickr :(

You're quite right Les. That halo around the monument bugs me too. I guessed it was just me being super picky, as nobody else I've shown the photo to has mentioned it, but then few of them are photographers. I did a fair bit of PP so I may have to start at the beginning again! Thanks for your...

The day destroys the night, night divides the day.

#2 and #3 stand out for me. Lovely moody lighting and atmosphere

    A few biker candids

Ok. I did wonder if they might be over-sharpened. I'll have another go at them. Cheers for the comments :)

    A few biker candids

I'd like to know what you guys think of these. I'm pleased with them but perhaps I could process a couple of them a little better... or are they ok as they are? They were taken at a biker event on Sunday. #1 Old Punk. I like the contrasts here! #2 #3 #4

Using a HD TV as a monitor

I use a PC connected to my 50" Panasonic plasma, mostly for watching HD movies, with great results. The video card has a DVI output, which connects to an HDMI input on the TV, via a DVI > HDMI adaptor, and a normal HDMI lead (I'm not sure if this connection carries audio - I use a seperate AV...

    Location Advice around Yorkshire/Lake District?

You're welcome. Wast Water is so beautiful, I was amazed that the place was so quiet. It's like a secret place! Here's a couple of photos I took there.. http://www.talkphotography.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=332466

    Talacre Lighthouse

I was shooting there just on Saturday, when I think the lighting was perhaps easier to handle. A nice shot Stegsie.

    Castle Rigg

Isn't this rather soft? I tried a little Unsharp mask and felt it looked much better. A lovely shot anyway :)
