It's Wallington in Northumberland. I actually took it back in May at the end of a week of fantastic weather, so I can't really complain. But as it was wazzing down outside I decided to see if I could do something with what was a very lacklustre colour image. I think it turned out quite well...

You could try shopping around for an old stock FVL36. I got one from Jessops for £36 ;-) The 42 is better if you can stretch to it. I've not used a 58 so couldn't comment. I have a 56 which works very well. The focus assist is really usefull and both the 36 & 56 work superbly via wireless...

Noise handling with the A100 is an aquired skill. There are many schools of thought, including those that think it's unusable over iso 400. Personally I don't subscribe to this idea. The A100 is perfectly capable of producing good results at high iso and it records a staggering amount of detail...

:lol: That must have been a mammoth effort then. I've just tried 10 test shots in a pitch black room with my A700 and every one was bang on focus. What lens and flash were you using? Did you have the camera on AF-C? The infra red focus assist light doesn't operate on AF-C. :nono: I think...

That's my point. In this instance it's irrelevant whether you lead the class or are just an also ran. The important thing is the class. Sony have been been busily filling their lens range from the bottom up, which makes sense because they've been pulling in the consumers upgrading from the P&S...

Not the subject but what they were taken with. I've just picked up a 70-400G, so my trusty old Sigma 170-500 will be finding a new home soon. I hope I don't miss that extra 100mm of reach too much! I hope you enjoy the last shots I ever take with it. All hand held with Sony A700...
