It's not entirely camera related but:
As I understand it, if you have two polarising filters stacked on top of each (aligned to the way they polarise) then they will block about 50% of the light. But as you rotate one of the filters it blocks more and more light until it blocks 100% light when...
I'm slightly embarrassed to say that I'm using it like a point and click. I know there's a huge potential to get much better picture quality if I learn some of the auto functions but the quality on the fully auto mode is so much better than my compact point and shoot that I'm quite happy...
Sorry, seemed clear in my head when I was typing it out :)
The reason for going down the symlink route is because my albums are created from normal folders and jpeg files and thus they are viewable by any image playing software/hardware e.g. WiFi enabled digital photo frames, Windows Media...
I'm definitely backing up photos so that is not the issue. Simply looking for software that will make it easy for me to create albums. Ideally something that doesn't require software to view albums hence having a preferences for software that just creates albums as a bunch of jpegs but using...
I'm afraid I can suggest which DSLR would be suitable for you as I'm new to it myself. However, I can recommend using this website: http://www.dpreview.com/
It has a huge database of cameras (both current and discontinued models) and has a camera feature search and camera side by side compare...
Just moved to a DSLR for the first time but have years of digital photos from my P&S camera. I'm not that keen on printing photos or making albums from photos (except for a very small subset).
I'd like to store all my photos in a single organised directory structure on a local PC. I'd then...
Thanks for the offer but I should be ok. I got a few friends who have books so may borrow from them. Surprisingly, none of my friends had the For Dummies book but most of them have been into photography for a while.
It's about £179 directly from Amazon but that seems a pricey. However, you can buy at £133 through a 3rd party via Amazon (it's even Amazon fulfilled): http://www.amazon.co.uk/Canon-EF-S-55-250mm-4-5-6-Lens/dp/B0056E49MK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1331982857&sr=8-1. Now that does seem really great...
Thanks. Will take a look once I get to 25 posts which should be soon.
I'm really keen to have a small bag so maybe I should get a small bag for just the main equipment camera and single lens and a separate bag for the extras. Would only take accessory bag on done occasions.
Thanks very much. I hope this is the case. I'm coming from a point and shoot background where I rarely strayed from the full auto mode so it's a huge learning curve. I've just bought the Canon 550D for dummies book which I think is a great way to hit the learning curve in a user friendly...
I think I need to do a bit more research but the Lowepro website is pretty awesome. I like the bag finder function. I did a quick search and the Lowepro Event Messenger 100 seems to be coming out top and I can buy it for around £30 which is £20 less than the Jessops one.
Bag will be used for...
I guess it's more noticeable when you migrate from model range upwards. I've only just got onto the SLR scene so quite happy with the xxxD range at the moment. I'm sure an upgrade to xxD range will be justified in a year or two.
